Beef & Barley Soup Starter Mix

Ingredients: Barley, green lentils, wheat berries, minced dried onions, parsley flakes, celery flakes, bay leaves, thyme leaves, minced garlic, black pepper

2 pounds boneless beef chuck, cut in 1/2-
inch pieces or 2 pound 93% lean hamburger
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Contents of soup starter jar
5 cups each, low sodium beef broth and water
Heat oil in Dutch oven over medium heat and brown the meat. Pour off drippings. Add the contents of soup starter jar, water and broth to Dutch oven; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover tightly and simmer 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours or until beef is fork tender. Discard bay leaves.
